Point control

I have ordered a Cobalt AD-8fx control board for my layout. I intend to use Peco surface mounted and Seep PM2 point motors with control from the Digitrax controller. Looking at the service/instruction sheet only shows Cobalt motors being used!
Could someone show me the wiring for this set up please? AD-8fx to Seep/Peco motors please??

Thanks
Ron

Hi Ron,

Are the seep motors not analogue motors ? If so I'm not so sure they'll go with the Cobalt switch.

Hope I'm wrong.

That's good then, you're on a winner. Just a case of working out how they wire up together.

How many sets of points will you be using ?

2 sets of cross-overs and 6 others in the yard (hopefully!) The Digitrax controller is set up to use over 100 points!

Hi Ron,

Plenty capacity with the Digitrains then. If you could copy up the instructions off the cobalt unit and the swept could be helpful.

Hi Ron

The 'S' in the product number indicates 'solenoid' and the 8 is a bank of 4 x ads-2's on one pcb (4x2=8). I can't find a wiring diagram in my archive for the ads-8 but this one for the ads-2 should suffice. The good thing about dcc concepts decoders is that they (the decoders) have terminals marked with what they are for so it shouldn't prove at all difficult… They will work on DC at 12 - 14v or DCC on the bus at 16vAC.

Cheers Mike, re-ordered today, (I must start reading adverts properly!!) Going to use the Digitrax controller to activate the points and maybe build a diagram board for LED's?

Cheers
Ron

Bear in mind with these DCC Concepts controllers that they do not remember the position of the points following a power outage - ie intermittent short, or start of the session.  This means that any LEDs will not necessarily indicate the correct position until you activate the points again. This can be a bit more of a pain if you're not using the switch for LEDs but for frog polarity switching.
