D I Y or Pay an expert to fit Decoder
To be honest Kevin with the Adams 02 you are probably better to get someone to fit that for you that is not exactly a capacious loco yes its possible for you to do but i think a bit more experience fitting sound to locos may be needed before tackling something like that. This Chap Richard Croft runs a small business from home offering a supply and fitting service he does seem to be very respected in the modelling community.

Not quite true. You can add a sound decoder to a DCC equipped locomotive, it just has to have the same address as the function decoder. There are issues with BEMF as it is not driving a motor. Digitrax sell something called a "Sound Bug", - SFX006 Soundbug for DH165xx decoders and others - that can be added to some of its function only decoders. Only slightly less expensive than their regular sound decoder. MRC do something called a "Sounder" for diesel or steam that works with any function decoder. Retails for $39, and that includes a stay-alive and a speaker. Generic sounds, but if you want to add sound to an existing locomotive that already has a function decoder installed it can save some money. You can't add sound to a standard decoder - you have to buy a sound decoder, usually supplied with the sound files already loaded. You just specify the loco and they load the file for you.

If jerry builders are being paid to do poor quality and dangerous work, it's absolutely unacceptable.

Sorry for the late reply, but it seems to me that you'd probably have been better off if this bloke hadn't done the work in the first place. Particularly if it's a stud wall, there's absolutely no excuse! A bannister/handrail is supposed to be able to support someone's weight without coming away. As Peter said, the sosial services are the people to sort this out.
Have you been able to get upstairs yet?
Cheers Pete.

Hi Peterm Thank you for your reply. The Bannister aside, it took a second “ technition†to finish the job.But the truth of the matter I have three seemingly impossible Locos that I would like to convert to DCC.Hi Kevin,
