Hi Everyone,

For those of you too far away to attend, here's a short video of some locos I've converted running on Hornby Magazine's 'Bolsover and Seven Lane Pit' at the Hartlepool MRX last weekend.

Steamers for a change!

Excellent, Paul.  :thumbs    Also . . .

I've got an 03 coming and I really like your job on the one on YouTube.

I've got a spare MX645 in stock.  Will your 03 project upload into that?

Regards

These are 'OO' models, but yes, definitely possible in 'O'.

However, with the greater space you may be able to fit a fan assisted smoke generator. Then, as well as variable amounts of 'smoke', the decoder can intelligently drive the fan to produce synchronised 'puffs' with 'chuffs' and motion!

Looks great in my 'O' gauge 4F.

All of this directly driven by the Zimo decoder. Don't try this with some other brands, they aren't up to it without add-on boards and /or micro relays (ie extra cash!).

Kind regards,

Paul

Max,

My 03 project will fit onto an MX 645, but a 645 will not fit into a 'OO' 03 in the way I described. Ha Ha.

Kind regards,

Paul

The video is great Paul and I like the smoke effect, which I have compared to some other examples, yours are much more realistic with the 'puff' effect. I also remember your article on fitting the glowing firebox and headlamps in Hornby magazine. All a bit too fiddly for me, but certainly adds to the realism.

I really love the sound Paul but unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of "model smoke".  Whilst yours is indeed very good, I feel, like water, it can't be minaturised particularly realistically.  To me, model smoke detracts from the supposed "power" of the loco :cry::cry:

Fantastic Paul.Brought a smile to my face that did! I'd love to be able to have smoke in my N gauge fleet, but glowing fireboxes and working lamps would be stretching it a bit!
 Thanks very much for posting.
