Sneak preview of the soon to be released models

Hi Everyone,

Here's my latest epic - all two minutes of it!

I did the custom sound project so I got to hear it before anyone else. They are due to released very soon.

This short clip shows how you can use the 'Action' button to manipulate which sounds are playing, varying the 'power' sounds at the same road speeds just like the real locos

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Max,

No, sorry. This was a special commission for RAIL EXCLUSIVE as a custom sound for their sound fitted versions.

Currently, it's only available if you buy a sound fitted loco from RE.

I really like that Paul. :thumbs

Are they planning to fit it to any other liveries - say, for example, a green one ……………..:roll::roll: ?

Thanks Peter,

I'm not sure about RE's future plans. Nothing imminent, for sure, but since almost all of the limited production has already been sold, who knows?

Why not ask them? Maybe enquiries will encourage a fresh livery release.

In the meantime, I managed to pick up a couple of green liveried bodies from Peterborough show. (So I'm alright, Jack. Ha ha).

Kind regards,

Paul

Peter,

RE have announced 2 blue Large loco limited editions for early delivery.

Also, I understand that they will now be selling a complete install package consisting of decoder, speaker (with ViTrains fitting kit) and 2200 uF capacitor as an after-market kit.

This can be used in any colour 47 and any maker you have/can get, but the speaker fitting kit will need to be adapted/replaced.

I've already fitted a MX648 with these sounds into an 'N'gauge Farish 47 (see current Hornby Magazine) and I'm develping a version for larger scales.

Kind regards,

Paul

Thanks for the heads up Paul :thumbs

Whilst I realise blue/large logo lights some peoples fires, I think it was one of the worst corporate decisions BR ever made - blue alone was bad enough, but those huge arrows which clearly said they didn't know if they were coming or going ………….:It's a no no

I'll have a look at their Class 47 self-fit version though. :cheers

Max fitted a Zimo chip in my Std.Class 3 tank recently and I'm absolutely blown away by it.  I don't know if you had anything to do with it but if so, hats off to you sir.  It's quickly become my favourite loco and yes, I do have more than 2 !!!

Don't worry, blue is not my scene either.

I'm really a kettle man myself, but have been warming to diesels since recording them for my sound projects. Ideally green so they mix with steamers ! But, each to their own.

I've put these sounds into a ViTrains 47 which I have swapped bodies for a 'green' version - unfortunately the body represents a late loco repainted two tone green for some sort of anniversary or rail event - I suppose I should look it up. It has a TOPS number on one end and a D number at the other. Not quite right, but good enough at a quick glance! Well, its green!

If you can simulate a change of cut-off (exhaust beats change volume and timbre) with F5 toggling on/off, then it will be one of my creations. This is my 'trade mark' feature. You should also find  F keys sounds on most if not all the way up to F19.

Assuming that to be the case, thank you for the kind comments.

Have you downloaded the ZIMO decoder manual? 50 plus A4 pages crammed with info (not betime reading).

Kind regards,

Paul

The YT vid only shows one feature, I thought you might like to know what else you get!

There are 8 different sound projects on the same decoder, called sound sets. This enables almost any end user to select, just by changing the value of a sigle CV (CV265), the driving style/ engine power increase points to match their own driving technique and especially their layout size.

So, for instance, you could have it set to reach max power at low road speed on your short layout at home, then with a single CV change alter its characteristics to behave correctly on a large club layout. Re-selection is possible at any time.

Here’s a list of the sound sets available. To select a sound set, simply put the value shown into CV265.

Table A

CV Value

Sound Set Name

Ideal Use

101

Non-ETH Mainline

Larger layouts and high speed operation.

102

Non-ETH Yard

Low to moderate speeds, shunting, MPD and branch lines.

103

Non ETH Short Layout

Oh dear, that didn't go very well, did it?

The table formats have disappeared from my previous post.

Treat it as this week's supplementary jig-saw puzzle.

There should be three columns in the first table and two in the second. Hope you can work it all out.

Thanks Paul - I managed to navigate around what you wanted to say.

The kettle I spoke of must have one of your projects on it.  I absolutely love that F5 function whereby I can gently ease the light engine to wherever I want it with just a gentle hissing of exhaust (she runs superbly. Not sure if that's Max or just a good runner).  Then, when I hook up to a train, press F5 and suddenly, you've got a heavy load hooked on and the loco certainly lets you know.  Gone are the gentle hisses, replaced by heavy chuffs which are so easy to "ride" all the way up to full speed.

As I say, she's now my favourite loco in spite of my having a similarly amazing chip with most of the functions you mention above  on a US outline GP40 (again fitted by Max).

As you can probably tell, I'm very much "into" sound now although I'm not too sure my bank manager is quite so keen ……….:roll:

Paul. sometime tables via Excel or Word need to be printed, then scanned as a JPG then posted into the forum like a normal photo.

Paul, when creating a post in the normal Reply Box, there are two buttons just above -

Upload new photo for Insertion    and   Insert existing photo from Gallery

Click on Uplaod & follow the instructions. If wanting to load another photo , click Return or Enter to creaet a line spece between photos

now this is assuming using a PC - for Mac users, there is a  thread somewhere in the forum for that.
