Locos running light, at crawling speed
Hi All. I live in Peckham( dwell in Peckham) really close to a Railway Viaduct, carrying freight right through the day and night, which is great for an enthusiast. Like me, and I have noticed that when the Locos are running light, especially " the Shed type" there is a characteristic dry axle sound, which is hidden when loaded or motoring. This is a sound that seems to be missing from Decoders? Please correct me if I am incorrect. All the best. Kevin

Good programmers will make sure that the engine "runs light" when easing off the throttle. (It all depends on the skill of the programmer). I know my Truro" ESU from Howes goes into valve clack and no chuff when decelerating or when the throttle is eased off. My ESU diesels also notch down when slowing down. But that's standard anyway (although usually user modifiable). Don't forget to set the momentum, otherwise a sharp deceleration is likely to stop the engine dead. Not quite what you usually want.
