I have been looking through my two mighty tomes on Hornby Dublo and Trix and have admired the stright forward building they used. Obviously pre-1950s technology meant that the KISS principle was essential to keep costs reasonable.

I quite like the look of some of the buildings and reckon that they would be straight forward to make with a fret sae, MDF and an aerosol paint can. Trix especially had a modular system that does not look too difficult to emulate while the Hornby stuff is more solid looking.

Curious if anyone else has been down this road or  has the ability to manufacture minature realism taken over completely?

I've often thought of making some of the Hobbies Weekly model railway designs. They did them in OO, O, and even Gauge 1. Usually using 1/8th inch plywood.
