Building the Railmodel(ex Lasercraftdevon) kit
I`ve built a record number , for me anyhow, of 7mm kits this year. Two locos, several wagon kits, and one lasercut building kit.I`m working on building up a MR/LMS 1930`s collection of various kits.
I like to scratch build signal boxes but I liked the look of this particular kit and decided to try my hand.
It is a complete kit except for paints and glue for which I used Humbrol and a quality quick grab PVA.
I opted for pre painting the parts supplied and used Halfords rattle can white primer base coat.
After that I airbrushed ( Aztec A470) my chosen colours to represent an intermediate MR/LMS 1930`s look.
The whole roof and gabling is a seperate unit so that the fully detailed interior can be added at a later date.
I changed the roof tile strips supplied for those made by Yorkmodels and cut them to enable eleven strips to be laid.
The hand rails are not supplied and were made from thin brass wire.
The walkway support brackets are lasercut wood and are far too weak……I have coated them in Gorrila glue to give them a little more strength.
I used Yorkmodels acrylic glazing sheets .
The kit supplies enough window frames so as to sandwich the thin glazing in between two frames, but this destroyed the open look of the windows…hence the use of the acrylic glazing sheets.
I was very impressed with the fit of all the parts.

Historically I've done LMS, but for my 7mm layout I'm going for BR (E). I would like to get a smallish GER type of box.
