Hi All

Aust Post delivered a parcel today . The wife said , go and get that set up .

Opening the box , I found a Heljan Container Terminal . ( I have been drooling after one for years ).

After setting it up , nothing worked . After cleaning the wheels and track , the travel now works .

I have now dismantled the entire gantry , and found that the motors run , and look new .The wires

from the gantry to the carriage rails were broken , the wires to the magnet ,and hoist were also broken .

Finally one of the cables to the hoist was frayed almost through .

I have replaced two of the four cables for the hoist, with two still to go .

I will also replace all the wiring .

The advert , described the terminal as having been used as a static model . the only fault being a missing

hand rail . In fact there were two other hand rails missing and one broken. the cabin was separate in the

bottom of the box , with the spotlight wires torn from the plug in the cabin .  Also the end sections of the base

  are missing .

I found a very useful guide on the internet , for replacing the cables , and the procedure for assembly  .

Looks like I will be busy for a while .

IF any body has the end sections of the base that are not wanted . Send an Email .

 Regards Ted

Hi Ted

I had to do a repair on a Heljan turntable.  I emailed Heljan and they sent me out a new set of drive gears free of charge.

They even paid the postage.

Worth a try.

Hi Max
Thanks for the tip , as far as I can determine , I can not see any problem with the
mechanicals . I have the cord for the cables. It was brown but now I have changed the colour
with a permanent marker pen . The only other requirement is electrical wire. Ethernet wire is
Ideal .  Also I would like to regrease the gears and bearings. I will have to research for a suitable
grade . Can you remember what type you used .
  Regards Ted

I wasn't suggesting you ask them for mechanicals, Ted.

They also carry all of the other parts.

I use Atlas Gear Lube.

Hi Max
Thanks for the reply . On other forums complaints have been made
about NO parts being available .
I assumed you had just been lucky in obtaining your gear sets.
I will send them an Email  , and see if they have any of my missing parts
 Regards Ted

Send it to the European office - I think that it's in Germany.
