If you have a rural branch line layout and have aspirations to have a substantial bridge/short road tunnel then this is the prototype for you. You would think a bridge of this size would be supporting some significant trackwork. The reality is that it only carries the single running line of the Cambrian mainline. As far as I can see from studying old maps it has never carried anything more than the single running line and a siding. The Newton & Machynlleth railway may never have been very financially sound but you can't say that they scrimped on the infrastructure. The bridge crosses the Pandy Road in Llanbrynmair, just to the south east of the former station.
