help need - I am searching a book

I am searching for a book from Edward Beal about his West Midland Railway. I think one of the books is West Midland. A railway in miniature. But maytbe there are more? What I need is a book store that has the book and accepts international mail order. I tried amazon but while I can and did order from amazon.co.uk it does not word when it is not in stock from amazon. It seems ordering from their marketplace is not accepted - despite there was the statement "international order". When I contacted amazon they responded very friendly but confirmed that it was not possible. So maybe someone can recommand a bookstore - or more books from Beal?

I got one from eBay - they come up there occasionally. Well worth setting up a saved search for one.

While I cannot help re a bookstore , I can say that the book, in my opinion, is very good, I have had mine since Christmas 1958, a pressie from my Mum & Dad. I also found a copy of an earlier book by Beal - New Developments in Railway Modelling.

I would recommend 'Railway Modelling in Miniature' as it contains many scaled drawings from all around the UK. I have a 1947 3rd edition, Percival and Marshall & Co.Ltd.

I have researched copyright issues concerning Edward Beal and I am comfortable with reproducing an example from the above book, with the attribution below as I have retained records of my attempts to seek copyright permissions.  I believe it was last printed in 1976-79 by M.A.P. by way of an 'Argus Books' edition. When the copyrights to   many of MAP/Argus/Nexus books were bought by Special Interest Model Books, only those books still in print were taken on, and the copyright reverted to the author, long since deceased. The CEO of S.I.M.B. has been kind enough to give me that in writing and on that basis I am happy to reproduce an example page from the book for you, with the necessary attribution below.

Another good title of Beal's is 'Modelling the Old Time Railways', 1955, by Adam and Charles Black, again, packed with useful 'how-to' pictures, many scaled. As I have not yet pursued it's copyright issues I do not feel able to scan anything from it for here.

At the same time, do not neglect the work of John Ahern, whose 'Miniature Building Construction' is a treasure house. He died in about 1960.  The 2mm Society published one of his articles in their newsletter with a similar attribution and were recently contacted by his nephew, who in turn has put me in touch with his aunt, the current copyright holder. I soon hope to gain permission to reproduce his work in an article and here on YMR.

Anyway, from Beal's  'Railway Modelling in Miniature'

Above illustrations reproduced from 'Railway Modelling in Miniature' [1947] by Edward Beal, printed by Percival Marshall and Co.Ltd., Printers, 23, Great Queen Street, London WC2. All practical efforts to trace the current copyright holders of this work have been made by the poster, who may be contacted through the officers of this forum. The poster fully acknowledges the rights of the estate of Edward Beal and invites them to contact the poster who will cause the illustrations to be removed should any such legitimate request be received. 17/2/2010.

Thank you all for your help! I ordered the book using the used.addall website and hope that it works. If I like the book I will order more of Edward Beal´s books. There seems to be a reprint of Modelling the Old Time Railways', from 2009.
