New book out 1st June

Published 1st June and available from https://www.southernelectric.org.uk/shop/ after that date

The first of several books I have in progress or - now - in press.  This charts the history of these unique SR-style headcodes in use since 1911 and about to vanish forever late this year or early next.

Well it's here.  A "soft" launch during a club meeting on Saturday was the official start of sales.  Delivered on time and on budget.  So far around 20% of the initial run are sold (in just a couple of days) with a second run already ordered.  A niche subject but one which often attracts comments and questions from the 12" : 1' folk as well as modellers.

I can handle direct sales including overseas.  POA if non-UK postage is involved otherwise it's £18 to include padded bag and postage.

I am pleased to be able to report that the first print run has quickly sold out.  That's 100 copies.  A second run of 50  copies was delivered directly to myself (as opposed to my sales manager) for distribution to the statutory libraries, a few comps to those who have assisted with the project and some direct sales.

A third print run of another 50 copies has been ordered for general sale.  If those also clear then I can claim almost 200 sales and am half-way to an official "Best Seller" by 2024 standards!

Third print run now in stock on the previous link given above.

A well-known model shop with branches in Camborne and Guildford is also now stocking the book and will have their own link live from Friday in their weekly newsletter.  Approaching 200 copies sold.  If the rest sell fairly quickly then I shall consider a fourth run if the demand is there.

Almost!!! :mutley

Kernow MRC sold out of their stock in 48 hours and have been re-stocked.  We are approaching the time for yet another print run. I had thought that perhaps 100 copies might sell over time.  So far almost double that have sold within a month.  I seem to have hit a nail on its head.  Right product right time right market.  And all proceeds going to help restore the Southern Electric Group's historic (85 year old) main line electric 4-Cor unit.

So you will be in New York Times best seller list shortly ? I guess autographed copies will be appearing in E-bay shortly for an astronomical price … :mutley

Apparently one only needs to sell 400 copies these days to make it to the lists.  I don't know how many might have constituted a "best seller" in the before-times but surely more than that.  I am happy enough that thre has been enough interest out there to justify the research and time commitment, and that the proceeds are going to support the restoration of the 1930s unit shown on the front cover.
