One of the last things my brother said to me before he died was "make a model of something on the Kyle of Lochalsh line"
His wish being my command but I know next to nothing about this line, true!
Can anyone recommend the definitive book about this line that includes, if possible, station layouts, track diagrams etc., of between 1970 and 1990?

I don't usually do "pretty" but understand this is "rugged"!

Thank you. Pete

Pete, how about contacting the Friends of the Kyle of Lochalsh railway.  I'm sure that they would be able to advise.

I have some pictures from the 1990s.  Let us get the show out of the way and I will scan them in.  You may have to remind me in a week or two!

Pricey but looks comprehensive.

Not great quality but possibly some help?

Should be enough to keep you going!

The Book Chris refers to is a solid read (I have a copy) : Rails to Kyle of Lochalsh: Story of the Dingwall and Skye Railway Including the Strathpeffer Branch

The best money you can spend is to join the Highland Railway Society as this gives you access to a wealth of information (i should know as I recently joined!) and there is also a chat group accessible once you have joined. The website is here : http://www.hrsoc.org.uk/

Pete, if you are interested in further info on the line, please see here (look at the bottom of the line for track layout…):
