Back Issues from 1970's ?

I have been a RM reader for over 50 years but unfortunately was unable to keep my carefully hoarded early magazines through sheer lack of space and gave them to a preservation society to be sold to raise funds for their project .

Sods law I now need to find a 1970's issue which I have been told by three different people they think contains drawings of Portishead station buildings which will be my next project . All three have suggested the drawings were in an issue in either 1970 or 1971.

Does anyone have copies of the magazine or indexes from the same period so that firstly I can trace the issue in which the drawings appeared and hopefully which they could photocopy ?

I think it was March 69 actually - but mine fell victim to a purge a few years back. It included drawings and a model of the station building.

It was described as 'the only post-war branch terminus in captivity', if I recall correctly.

Ian - many thanks for identifying the issue - a great help.

Sol - I wrote to the Technical Advice Bureau at Peco (they prefer letters to emails) enclosing an SAE over a month ago but have heard nothing as yet but this may because of the Christmas break and the weather so not given up on them yet .

Hi Wheeltapper - I have a pristine copy of March '69 RM (announcing 'Vivien (Thompson) wins RM Cup with Eastbourne' [whatever happened to her]) - if you send me your email address & tell me the pages you want I'll scan & send.

I'm now having doubts - it might be Jan 69 - but it is certainly one or the other!

No, Portishead is in the March issue.

Oh good, my memory hasn't given out yet then.

Maybe it would make a good trivia game - which issue of RM contained…..

Even Issue 1 has an article by person using your name !!  A good magazine that one.    But even RM has picked up a lot lately .
