My copy just arrived. Firstly a very good calendar - first class models on the 13 photos used - some taken by Chris Nevard.    Steam & Diesel - black, green & blue in various shades.    Ideal for framing at the end of the year.

The magazine itself is full of good info  - instead of me typing the Contents, I will ask if I can copy them.

Neil, until Hornby Magazine give me permission to copy the contents to the forum, I have saved them to a file I have created - Word document  - so if anyone wants a copy, e-mail me  sol@aaandr.com.au

or barring that, go to this site & save them yourself http://www.hornbymagazine.com/backissues/latestissue.php

I know you do Neil but I had to let you get the last on me for 2008. Others who may not get it on subscription may like to see what is in it before they purchase.

I think it is perhaps the best of the general run of model mags from the UK - I do get MRJ ( which is not part of the general mag scene IMO) to see the other side of the coin.

Yes Ron I agree it is the best of the mags at the moment.  Having said that RM must be feeling the pinch as they have really lifted their game of late.

I've subscribed to RM for about 3 years now and occasionally bought the Hornby mag when I went to UK.

I found it like a breath of fresh air and am now subscribed but still getting RM.

As you say Neil, they have lifted their game a bit but, in my opinion, have still some way to go to equal Hornby.

Yes Peter agreed.  The trouble is they would have to get rid of some of their staff and employ younger fresher people with new ideas to completely revamp the mag.

I stopped my subscription to railway modeller last year as i felt it had fell behind model rail and the hornby mag.

Also because its owed by Peco i fell there is editorial pressure to cover to many scales in the one magazine.

cheers Brian
