Does anyone else read GWR Journal?(Wild Swan Publishing)
Its a cracking magazine…4 issues a year,Winter,Spring,Summer & Autumn.Chocker full of great photos, maps diagrams, drawings in amazing detail of all aspects of the GWR and BR Western Region.
There are hardly any adverts.Thats a massive bonus to me,as the model railway mags, for example, have a very high ratio of pages given to blanket advertising. Also, the price won't ruin you..less than £16 a year!!!

Hi John, I do pick one up from time to time, as one of the local Smith's shops I go into sometimes has a copy. The winter issue was on the shelf until 2 weeks ago, but I haven't seen the spring one. I assume it's out now :question:question

Anyway, it's a cracking read, often covering the type of thing you don't see elswhere and well worth the cost.

This is my favourite magazine although it is of course about the real thing rather than models. Having said that the photos inside are a boon for anyone modelling the GWR/Western Region in the steam era. Whenever I am in the UK I, like Jeff, tend to try and get a copy from Smiths, Borders etc. Well recommended!

I think that I am missing a couple of the most recent ones but that's it.
I even have the pilot edition.
The inspiration for the Newcastle Emlyn branch came from the Journal.
Well worth the reasonable cost if you are modelling GWR.

I now have every issue published thanks to this website and Ebay for the odd one that he didn't have in stock.

Just one question, John.

What are the publication dates?I still haven't seen the spring issue in Smiths. Maybe a visit to Ian Allen's in Cardiff is called for.

Jeff,
that's the one and only downer with this mag.It ALWAYS comes out late!!! The current (Spring) issue was promised in the Winter 2009 issue for 4 weeks ago…..and it still ain't out as far as I'm aware.
Its a good excuse for keep going into Ian Allens in Manchester and browsing, though!!!
