Using my addon sidings

Life in the slow lane

After building my add on sidings I decided to do a little shunting and it  is great fun, as I use Spratt & Winkle couplings as well as storage for when I want some space on the layout…

Below you can see the coupling

Here below I am just showing off my Corona lorry

Below is a Blast from the past a J36 having taken on coal is waiting for it's driver…

I always wanted a signal box with interior gubbins and below is what I opted for….

The traffic just lets everyone know 'it's a bridge, Not a tunnel'

I love the 08 shunters, but the first thing I do when I get a new one is put 6 extra pickups as the Bachmann pickups I found so hard to get to to clean…..Now I have no running problems at all (touch wood)

'Repulse' running along the bank…

If you look closely to the picture below I believe someone has had a go at the cables by the railway

I thought I would add this one…Well because I like it…

Well it started off as a little ditty about my add on sidings and ended up as a mini tour of life on the layout…

I have tried being Normal and Sensible, But thankfully it never lasts long………

Great layout with some great little cameos. Your weathering on the rollingsyock is fantastic, especially on the open wagon with the J36 and the wooden bodied van with the 08.

Cheers, Gary.

I'll second that Gary. :thumbs:thumbs

Some great shots there and some great weathering.

Where did you get the backdrop with the semi-detached houses in the 4th shot ?  It's superb. ;-)

Not one to cast blame, but have occupants from the caravan not only had a go at stripping copper from your cables, they had the nerve to cut the fence to get to it. Vandals, Where's the Transport Police when you want them?

Thanks for sharing your layout with us Sapper J.

Always try to look on the bright side of life!

Hi Sapperjethro.        Excellent, proper job. But I have just been trawling through the Gaugemaster site, and for the life of me, I cannot see your background scene. Would you please advise me, as it got a name or reference number? Best wishes Kevin

Have you noticed the date of the last few posts on this thread Kevin ?

Given that it was in 2013, I'd suggest you don't hold your breath waiting for a reply ………..

Hi Petermac.   Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways. Unless it is obvious that a member is either dead or whatever I would never know. Are you telling me that this could be the case? Best Wishes Kevin

No Kevin - hopefully he's not dead ……
Some members just drift away, others change loyalties and yet others cease their railway modelling activities.  Unless we're asked to, or we know they've gone to the train-room in the sky,  we don't delete their memberships.

If you look in the brown bar above every post, it gives the date the post was made.

Actually Kevin, as with Peter running the Picture of the Month competition, Sometimes a 'blast from the past' whether it be a picture or an old thread re visited, kicks off a whole new conversation in the forum  . I for one often go back to see just WHAT that old thread was about  :thumbs

Hi Petermac.   Following on from the purchase of the background scene for “ Inglenook junction “ and as soon as the lockdown is over, I have settled on “ hardboard “ but, what should I use to stick it on with and do I have to treat the hardboard with anything. Best wishes Kevin

Walpaper paste ? Watered down PVA ?  You could give the board a coat of either to prime it, allow to dry and then coat again and stick your backscene.
I'm just mentioning things you MAY already have ? Rather than the definitive answer

Cheers

Hi Matt.  Thank you for your reply. You are correct, I do have PVA not much? What I don’t have is the hardboard, I can hardly wait for the end of lockdown.   Best wishes Kevin
