stage 1

I've started building my baseboard! Hurrah!

Even better is the discovery that the lengths of 2x1 timber exactly matches the length of two of the walls its against :D

I'm only doing a 3-sided setup, 2 1/2 being scenic, with a 1m fiddle yard, with a future option of adding a "fourth wall" (to use theatrical parlance).

The centre section is dropped 2 inches to accommodate the canal and river in front of the window (it'll still fit the worktable under it too).

I've used the 'quick fix' method as described in "next steps in railway modelling", which doesn't involve tenon joints or screwing into the ends (great as I am not exactly carpenter material (although I'm thin and can play the drums…)) I'll post pics up in a bit.

Bow ties are cool - and yep, that's a Sonic Screwdriver.
