I don't know the answer...
Hi AllWe have been offered as a club a Marklin track layout I think in K (?) track. The others know even less than I do ( I had to explain what "Stud Contact" is) but they were thinking they could put two rail stuff on them, Are the two outer rails always connected by a conductor for the track or is that left to the points? I would appreciate input to this because if the track is NOT bridged, we could simply substitute Marklin points with Peco and use the current track. Alternatively we could relay the lot with Peco and sell off the track…
Any advice?
Cheers

K track is similar to the real thing lots of sleepers etc
. the Centre Studs are one side of the AC (or DCC which is modified Ac)
the outer rails are connected, the rolling stock CANNOT be used on two rail, you will have a dead short as the wheels are not Insulated. However on most Marklin rolling stock you can fit Trix HO wheel sets and then run on the Dc DCC layout.
Locos are another thing. the centre Slider picks up , say the + and the wheels (both Sides) pick up the -.

Sol,
I had a seniors moment the other night. It is possible to use K track on DC/DCC. what you have to do is on each end of the piece of track is to cut the connecting Linlk between the 2 outer rails.
I forgot that I have read on the Marklin forum of users running DC and AC using a simple switch to change the power source and delivery.
