Latest examples just delivered to Hattons
The link below says it all, so I'll not bother to elaborate, except to say that they really are looking rather good. I reckon my Airfix examples will be rested now.http://www.ehattons.com/NewsDetail.aspx?id=79
Bill :)
At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

I will definitely retire my existing 14xx. Right now I have it permanently hooked up to the autocoach with pick ups added to the coach and a stay alive decoder:roll: I am hoping that the new ones will be reliable runners so I can eliminate all this
Kind Regards

When the press announced this I knew immediately that little Johnny in Canada would be a very happy and excited boy!

I guess I'm a tad grumpy from my French conjugations in readiness for this afternoon's lesson!
Oh well, back to the classroom!

Hmm, just been informed, maybe not reliably, that the 14xxs will not be available until next year. Perhaps they should be considered 14zzs until woken.

Bon jour!
Hattons have set the date back from October to December/January…….so I suspect you are correct about next year
They had problems with the recess they are using to locate the number plate and some other issues
Patience is a virtue they tell me

Fortunately the cooler winter weather will give me some quality modeling time, although I've just acquired a little distraction in the form of a pre-war sports car to keep me up to mischief! Poop poop!

The blue looks rather French don't you think?
He's a 1936 Austin 7 Sports Ulster Replica and without a name at the mo. I'm doing some subtle fettling at a mate's workshop before bringing him over to France, so we can get properly used to one another before our local GP Retro next year.
I'll also have to make a 4mm version for the layout, with a mini-me at the wheel, poop poop!!

Here's a couple of shots showing the original engine with high compression head and an electric cooling fan and 12v updated electrics with coil ignition and Bosh distributor.
The cooling fan is essential here with 30 deg plus summer temperatures. I'll tidy the engine bay up and replace anything too modern with period items, ie choc blocks!
Sorry Alan for going off topic, as I really am looking forward to Hattons' 14xx delivery in due course.
A good day to all,
Bill

That's a nice looking model. I must inquire about how easy or difficult an EM conversion will be.

There's downloadable exploded diagrams for the 48/14xxs and 58xxs on the Hattons website:
http://www.hattons.co.uk/NewsDetail.aspx?id=147 which may, or may not help you consider how easy or otherwise an EM conversion may be. Good luck with your conversations with Hattons and or Dave Jones. Dave contributes on rmweb and there's a DJM 14 - 58xx thread there.
Not long to my 48xx now!
