There once were lots of trains to catch, but soon there will be none.

 I have no evidence of them in the north east, but in theory they could easily have been used on one of the trans-Pennine routes - a good excuse for a model, perhaps?

The Midland Region had these but with a different front end, they were used in the Manchester/Preston/ area. 4 of these non gangwayed were built after the 6 gangwayed.
