I did remove some triang wheels on an old dock shunter chassis but ended up with broken insulation spacers on one wheel, and the other side would not budge.
So, good luck with this and I look forward to a better responce to your question than mine!

I have in the past used the NWSL wheel/axle puller/pusher to pull wheels out while on the chassis, as said the older they are the more reluctant they are. Very often the axles are short, with a back to back as low as 13.2mm.Those old wheel treads and flanges can run poorly on newer track when pulled out, and the wheels/rods/crossheads often foul the body. Which often means positioning the pistons further out…
I calibrated it so I knew how many turns/mm.
Try writing to Markits.
