New lamp posts

Everybody knows Wombat Creek isn't big enough for a tram system. But the mayor, Alfred Campbell, insists it will bring fame to the town. The tramways have become one of his top priorities, next to staying in the top job in the years to come. With upcoming elections, it is important to keep the cost for the taxpayers down. Therefore, the mayor has been looking for somebody else to pay for the rather elaborate lamps for the tram stop in Victoria Street.

After some negotiations, he got a sponsor (me), who will pay and erect the lamps. With 2 x 2 lamps the output is quite overwhelming, but the mayor is rather pleased. He is sure, he will be re-elected.

Yeah, I think it could do with a resistor!

Either that, or the mayor will have to provide free sunglasses :thumbs3:

Queen Victoria times Four

wct 2508231.jpg
In Victoria, no decent town with 'Victoria Street', 'Victoria Square' and 'Victoria Lane' can do without a statue of Queen Victoria. A friend got his son to 3D print no less than four statues. Which one will be chosen by the mayor to erect in front of the town hall in Wombat Creek?

It is supposed to be the sovereign's orb, but you are right. It looks like the head of a child 😉

Winter in Wombat Creek

wct 2506121.jpg
During the last two and a half months Wombat Creek has been covered. Not by snow, but some white sheets. My wife and I escaped the Australian winter. Instead, we spent a warm and sunny summer in Denmark occasionally venturing by train to Germany, Sweden and Finland.

Monday September 1 is the first day of spring and I will be back in/with Wombat Creek. The updates will be in 'real' time again.

A quiet little jaunt "up country" plus a bit then Claus.  I'd guess you find loads of differences between Australia and Denmark as there must have been between Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Finland.  Germany I know but admit to never having been to Denmark, Sweden or Finland !

What did surprise me was your desire to escape the Australian winter - is it that bad on Philip Island - the penguins apparently enjoy it ……………………..

Looking forward to the unwrapping ………

Some nice ladies on the island are busy knitting jumpers for the penguins. (I am not joking. Most of the jumpers, though, are sold in the souvenir shop adorning toy penguins)

A redundant sign

wct 250920b1.jpg
The 'Platform Signage' packet from Peco contains as the name indicates various signs. The signs are made of white plastic and need to be painted black with white lettering. As a test I painted 'To the TRAINS' all black and later scraped off the paint on the edge and the letters. I came up all right. It is not needed at the station in Gumnut Gully, but instead of 'wasting' my work the sign went up at the tram stop near the Explosives Factory. It is rather redundant since there is only one way out from the tram stop.

Claus
