Hope it makes it in one piece.

It made it in two pieces! The layout is made up of three sections. Fortunately, I managed to get two sections out of the room, into the truck and into a temporary spot in the garage as one piece (nearest the camera). So all in all I only had to disconnect four wires instead of…. Well, quite a number of wires.
Hopefully my wife and I will paint the walls in the new 'tram room' Saturday and have Wombat Creek installed Sunday. Just the baseboards. The buildings will have to wait.

Wow - nearly a whole container to itself - I trust he drove slowly and avoided all the bumps in the road. Does it like its new home ?

Well, not quite a container. It is a rented small truck. Saturday my wife and I painted the 'tram room'. Sunday the first section was moved into the room but not put in its final position. I would like to place a picture or two on a wall before the layout make the wall inaccessible. So far the move has been fairly good with only two snapped wires. Unfortunately, one could be for a set of points with hidden points motor. :'(

The layout has been set up in the new 'tram room'. Most of the buildings are still in boxes and a few wires need to bee reconnected. Best of all, there is room for an extension of the narrow gauge railway! Before long trains could be running down to Gumnut Gully!

How do you get to the window ……………………………….

I had hoped I could squeeze myself between the layout and the wall to the right, but Christmas dinners put an end to that idea :lol:Petermac said
Wow - you moved all that without having to dismantle it all - bigger than I'd imagined.
How do you get to the window ……………………………….?

(Well, the gap is only 20 cm). Instead, I will have to duck under to get to the window and, importantly, to the corner around Victoria Market.

Moving from one place to another often involves living in two places at once. Well, it is the case for Wombat Creek. The layout is sitting comfortably in its new home but with no spare time, no modelling is going on. However, with few days back at our old home I have some time to work on the Comedy Theatre. I brought the building to the layout for a 'fitting'. Here is the result:

As some of you may know, moving between houses is time consuming. Occasionally you get a day off and I relax with a bit of modelling. The Comedy Theatre is coming along nicely.

That looks highly complicated but a brilliant execution of it.

You are right. 'Art Deco' buildings are fairly complicated. I have done this one as a challenge. Back in August 2023 James (Shunter_J) posted about the Rivoli Theatre in Hawthorn (see Wombat Creek Tramways - Your Model Railway) and I got hooked. In my reply I wrote the construction would have to be on the 'to-do-list' for a while. Being in the progress of a house move I have moved the building to the'in-progress-list*.

Wombat Creek Tramways, 13th of March 1963
Wombat Creek Tramways have resumed traffic. All trams except the freight tram are in service. Unfortunately the freight tram suffers from a short in the motor, which may need a replacement.
