Not long now - nearly next week !!!

Hi Peter, I thought id finished everything.then I decided to make another fuel tank, then I made some pipe work, then I saw the BP and Gulf tankers from the same seller. I’ve had a bit of stuff from him before it’s been ok. And before I knew it I had a sort of fuel depot.

Coming along nicely, trackwork looks suitably grimy :thumbs3:

Thanks Ed. I’ve painted the track with a bit of burnt sienna for rust. I’m going to do the sleepers with sleeper grime.

ID backscene stuck on, I used the n gauge backscene they are 9 inches tall, the OO are 15 inches tall and my backboard is 9.
It looks ok with the yard in the foreground and buildings and sky fading into the background.

Hi thanks Peter, and I’m glad I ordered the fencing as well. It gives it some depth, I made the gates a while ago from card and the posts are the sticks from rocket fireworks but wasn’t sure where I might use them, but they are perfect for the fencing.

That’s the wiring done, all up and running I connected the wires to the end of the track and jumped 2 wires over to the back track from a cable connector. I might put a switch between the wires to isolate the siding if I need to, so as to park another shunter . I did that on my N gauge layout and it works fine. Ps I don’t like soldering.

Interesting cable connector Graham.  Presumably, one can disconnect any of the 4 wires just by pressing the appropriate spring clip ………………..  Quicker and easier than the choc blocks I'd have used in that situation………….

They are ok. I got them ages ago for under the baseboard on my n gauge 800x500 layout to connect up the lighting.  IMG_6694.png

Ps, it’s similar to what I did on the n gauge shunting yard. But I used a different type of connector (£1 on eBay) I didn’t want to drill through the baseboard and wire it underneath so I wired it on top of the board and concealed it inside the homemade engine shed. And the switch to isolate the other track is hidden under a container. No drilling or soldering. And the spring loaded connectors are £3.89 for 20.

I’ve never used OO gauge before so I was unsure how to uncouple. I bought a magnetic pick up tool for £2.50. It’s quite a strong magnet so I put a sticky self adhesive pad on the bottom of it to reduce the magnetism. It works ok.

There's loads on here about couplings Gray.

Personally I like knuckle couplings which are great for hand free coupling/uncoupling, although not really prototypical for UK outline.

Hunt couplings are another option

Hi Ed thanks for the reply. I was wondering what are the options regarding uncoupling with the hornby couplers that are already on the wagons. I don’t want to change them partly because of the cost and I don’t want to damage them.

More or less done. New shed arrived yesterday. Not pinned the track down yet.
