I,m on developing the shed area and am going to use the Dapol turntable just as a scenic feature as it is surface mounted what was used in the inner ring was it concrete or gravel or either?

thanks Brian, the rails i had trouble making them stick so i used "plastic
rivets", inother words i drilled the sleepers and deck then put 2mm
plastic rod through and used my soldering iron to melt the ends,
lasted for 20yrs so i can recomend it. only 3 ,one at each end one in the middle.

Hi Diesel,

I built a Peco turntable and wondered what to put in the bottom. I found photo's of both so I opted for finescale grey gravel well weathered. It seemed to look better than the concrete. I'm afraid I'm a month off getting back home to Spain so can't post a photo till end September. If you haven't moved forward by then, let me know and I'll stick one up.

Les It would a shame for you to miss the festival of railway modelling . the east of England showground  oct 17 and 18 . Novice and i will go there again . Better than warley Good show ,a pleasent lounge bar ,a proper restaraunt (no bendy card plates )  Could you not stretch to that date?     Come to think of it ,its fairly central we could have a y m r meet up there if its within reasonable distance from any member .

Hi Reg,

I am back in Spain at the end of September for a rest after this mammoth job here for which I have had precious little time off. I am however coming back to the UK again just for one week on 16 October. Given that I will need a day to recover from jet lag (ha ha) I could make the Sunday (18th) and would love to come. Let's set it up.:thumbs

Have completed the turntable but the setting dont look right I know it is surface mounted but I dont think it would have a ramp leading up to it it still needs setting into the baseboard like rjr,s and maybe Owen could tell me how he did his .

Brian, the dapol table was originally designed to be used with the old
hornby/triang track with the foam underlay, this put it all level.
to make it level now i drew a circle using the corner of the table
as my guide, then it`s a case of useing a jigsaw to cut the circle out of the baseboard
( or a router ) then fitting it all back again,i did make four adjustable lugs to rest it on so i could level it up underneath, just wood squares with a screw threw.
all sounds a faff written here but the whole lot only took me about an hr.
