Availability

Morning and afternoon to all,

I am about to embark on the new freelance layout based in the Warwickshire area. I was thinking of adding overhead wiring to some parts of the layout. I know single mast catenary is available, and I do plan on using these. But at one point there will be a multiple platform station, where I would like to use a gantry system. Might even do a bit of kit bashing and build them into the buildings.

My issue is that I can not find one in mainstream sales that is available for purchase. I am not terribly fussed on style, more just getting something in that will work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Mick

Eurorail Hobbies is an excellent place to shop.  I have had nothing but great service from them over several years.  Sol's links are about as good as I can find for commercial OHLE gantries but don't forget our own Jim Smith-Wright has produced some outstanding quality stuff (and for a location only a few miles from Mick's intended location) from his own etches so it might be worth a message to him as well.

Hi guys,

Thanks kindly for the links. The do seem a bit on the pricey side, but then again, if I want them enough, I'll pay for them.

Was I reading right that one quad track gantry was about $50 aud?

Also, for Jim s.w… I thought he only made them for himself???

I'd just about kill for some of his overheads on my track.

Will message him when I get home. Doing the forums from a mobile phone is not as easy as it looks.

Cheers

Someone call ! Mine are all made from copper wire that is bent with pilers and then soldered. Jim produces his as a plain etch that has to be folded and soldered im sure he will add more info when he reads this thread. Dapol have just brought out the single masts in packs of 10 for about £10. They look realy good and at a £1 a mast they are good value as you carn't get all the bits to scratchbuild one for that. There is talk of them bringing out the older style gantries as used on the WCML. There is also the new peco stuff but I havn't seen any of it in the shops yet. ;-)
