We've seen some other sites for enamel posters etc, but this has a good few that might make your layout stand out, even modern-ish modellers can have them faded and dirty somewhere..

I have written to Mr Digby asking permission to use his signs on our models at exhibitions, & here on our forum.

That's a cracking link Doug and even better if we can use it on here. As for the photograph I think it's brilliant and an inspiration to many modellers who can find room for it on their layouts.

I received this e-mail this morning from Mr Digby, to whom I have sent a reciprocal email thanking him. This means we can copy and use them for our models, display them here and at exhibitions etc.

Very interesting! Thanks for your emails Doug. I would be pleased if you could
use the enamel signage on your models and in the forum.

Regards

Nigel

I'm pleased because many of them come 'ready weathered', and reduced in size to 4mm proportions using his brickwork as a gauge of size, they will look very good on photo paper. Purists may consider laying the photopaper on damp blotting paper, face up until it de-laminates a little so that the very thin printed surface can be peeled off to give a more scale thickness. Be prepared for a few disappointments though!

Doug

PS This may be just the thing I'm looking for for our 'common photo-editing'  workshop, i.e. taking the pictures from the screen and reducing/sizing them in 'Serif' to print out for our layouts….

PPS  Who will be the first member to build a model of Stubby's hut????

Doug, I find the water-slide transfers solve the problem of thickness.

Good idea, I understand you have to buy them, are they expensive, and are ordinary ink-jet printers OK for them or do you need waterproof printer ink??

I think you Doofer & the Man from KMRC must be related -

words like   buy and expensive  give you a turn just like the word discount does to the Man from KMRC .

Ordinary injet printer is fine.
I wouldn't call them cheap, but, if I print off notices etc., I rarely use more than an inch and just cut the rest off to use again.
Two types necessary (both matt): Transparent and White.
I use the Transparent where the background is part of the transfer (eg: grafitti).
Method: Wait for Printer Ink to dry.
Spray with matt varnish.
Cut to size and put in saucer of water for a minute or so.
Lift out and slide into position.
A bit tricky with the smaller stuff - I use dry kitchen paper to smooth into place (with dabs, not wipes).
