Starting with a 20p toy!

When you say 'slapped some paint on' Jim is it brush work or spray? If it's brushwork then what kind of brush and paint are you using to get such excellent results?

I think you meant to say "Bob" ……………  However, I too think it looks excellent.  Looking at the first shot of it, you'd never know it was the same vehicle. :thumbs:thumbs

Very clever solution to lining up the edges of the van front with the two cuts. I would have been looking at a much more complex solution of filler etc, which I doubt would have worked. I have filed this idea away for future projects.

Brilliant stuff, Jim!
That Mini Clubman though…………….the top half looks a completely different scale to the bottom half.

Best, Pete.

Hi Pete

Re the mini, I gave it a good go but in the end it was so far wrong I abandoned it.  I do have a cunning plan for one though which will take a similar route to the transit.

Cheers

My first "car" in 1968 was a '64 Minivan; cost me all of 50 quid…but do you know I saw it running around in 1979 - someone had replaced the sills though - which was where all their strength was.
Just shows you that people hung on to vehicles back then

Best, Pete.

Hi Pete

My cars getting on for 15 years old.   I have nicknamed Stourbridge the midlands car museum as I see loads of cars running arround that are E registration or earlier - thus suitable for my layout, set nearly 25 years ago!

Hi Pete

Depositing most of the Springside Kit in the round filing cabinet that lives on the floor the front of the nose and the wheels have been grafted onto a Corgi Mini.

Much happier with it now…

The pic in the oval is as far as I got with the original kit.

Hi All

A comparison of Minis.

On the left - out of the box.  Centre repainted (with thin paint) and fitted with smaller wheels (from a springside kit) and on the right the Clubman conversion.

Hi All

Drawing a close to my ford Cargo project with this ADL version

Needs a spot of weathering on the wheels then its done.

This brings my fleet of Cargo's to 7 which is enough for now

A good que for someone to bring a good RTP one out I think!

I didn't realise they came with the obligatory rust Jim - I thought that just grew as soon as you put the tax disc in !!!

Obviously you must have been an owner - you know ALL the places it appeared ……………:thumbs:thumbs

Hi All

Been doing a spot more work on Mk2 transit vans.  First up, for those interested in such things this site it pretty handy

http://fordtransit.org…viewtopic.php?f=3&t=46969

Now then - to the models.  First up the quickie one

Similar to the blue one but with wheels from paragon models and the addition of a side door. (door scribed on - hinges and handle from microstrip)

the middle difficulty one - this will end up a luton.  I didnt go mad on the chassis as you wont see it but if you had the patience and did want to go for it a rake of these without bodies, mounted on a load of Carflats would be pretty cool.

Finally - this is the awkward one.  Conversion to a long wheelbase.  I have used the spare back from a previous luton conversion and so far sorted the nose and the roof.  the drivers door will need converting to a slidey type and the rear wheel arches need making.  Also the rear vent needs filling and the rear panel (below the waist and behind the rear axle needs filling and re-shaping.

Cheers

Hi All

For a while I have had one of these knocking arround…

The Dodge commando (ish) from Matchbox.  Well never one to leave something alone with I have been having a bit of a play around with it.  I'll post later what I came up with.

Cheers

Hi All

If you decide to model a city then you are going to need a couple of white vans! :)
