I keep getting the critical error bailing out message and page doesn’t exist. It’s been happening over a week now.

Hey,

I'm looking into this, I've done some initial tidying up to hopefully bring this back a bit more stable and will take a deeper look on the weekend to do some more clean up and get rid of the issue

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Break.

Breakage has cleaned up caches in the back end again. Things are hopefully back and working a bit faster. Once he gets a bit of time he's going to have a deeper look to see if he can slim down the file structure a bit to help out. To upgrade to more room etc would involve quite a hike in costs that breakage and I cover at the moment, so I'm reluctant to go down that route with our current active numbers. It's the old chicken and egg conundrum. We need more activity to warrant any sort of upgrade or major work so more posts ( thank you for yours Graham !) leads to more activity/ active members which gives Breakage and myself more encouragement to  work on it. I've tried to encourage those lurking out there, it's YOUR forum, we just keep it chuntering along. If you want it to keep going you need to take part. Even the odd post here and there helps. . . .

Cheers

Matt

We seem to be defaulting to 'Posts within 1 week' when clicking Recent, which is a bit of a nuisance as I've been away for a week and nearly missed some.

Thought this had been changed ages ago to 2 weeks.

I have just uploaded a photo at Wombat Creek Tramways without any issues. Trying to update Gumnut Gully I get the message 'temporary file is missing'.

Tried again without problems. It appears to be 'temporary' problem :brickwall

Any idea where to change it Ed ? I thought it was always set to one week and just click on the drop down and change to 2 weeks when I start to view recent.
If it IS possible to set it to 2 weeks that would be better !

Pretty sure breakage Jay managed to change it not long after we migrated to this software, Matt

Interesting :hmm: Mine has always been on one week and even if I change it in the drop down, then leave the page and come back, it reverts to one week again !

As to forum stability.
AFAIA  TSO Host sold out to another hosting company and all customers were migrated over to the new hosts. I think breakage looked, and it is still the best value around. Size wise, We are at the upper limit of what we pay for and to go up a bracket is a significant jump in cost, and so for where we are activity wise at the moment ? just no. The hosts still seam to be pretty stable although there do seam more down times for server maintenance than before. but to be honest I think most of our odd issues are to do with the shear size and Age of the database.
I know we were up around the file limit with the host a while ago and breakage did some re organising with both YMRC and other stuff he has on the server (I think he cleared a chunk of HIS stuff to make more room for us ?) but YMRC is a huge file structure with a BIG chunk of data. I did spend quite a few hours  quite some time ago (Early last year maybe ?)  clearing some old redundant clutter that was no longer relavent but we could probably do with another go at it. I'm not so much talking about layouts, how too's and general posts etc, it's more down in the reference stuff, prototype, transport, all those sections where quite frankly 90% of it was junk. I did spend time trying to repair broken links, replacing where possible with new links or where some reference material had completely disapeared finding something new to replace it. But it came to a point where to be brutally honest there was absolutely NO incentive to continue with it.

I'll see if I can find some time to start digging again.     :comp:

Meanwhile we will keep on chuntering along   :mtrain:

Cheers

Matt

The errors should now be fixed - I've also changed the "Recent" button so it now defaults to "posts since last visit"
