Suitable to take 0-6-0 locomotives as used at Bembridge on the IOW

Hi All.  I have been on the hunt for a short turntable for one of my shelf Layouts. Alas I am out of luck and it looks as if I am going to have to build one, that’s a joke, as I haven’t got a clue where to start. Let alone do the wiring.Has anyone out there ever built one ? Best wishes Kevin

I belive an IOW station had a short sector plate, or is it a figment of my {too much cheese at bedtime} imagination¿

Hi Douglas.  Thank you for your reply. Not being one to argue about something that I haven’t seen myself. But there is an online photo which shows the device, and it looks like a turntable to me. Best wishes Kevin

I read in an old modelling magazine re this .

I cannot remember which but it was old

Basically it was a surface mounted disc of ply with the track approaching on a slight rise..

I wish I could remember more perhaps someone else can help

Hi Kevin
You could check out that other well known forum for IOW layouts, Bembridge comes to mind.  As I recall, it was indeed a turntable, but was actually operated as a sector plate, but that might be my memory playing tricks.  I searched for lots of information on turntables when I was planning for one of my own…
