009 masterpiece
I thought I would share this little gem with you all - made for me by good friend Colin, who helps out with our 3mm Cardi-Bach layouts.Colin himself models in N gauge, and builds all his own locomotives, allbeit on commercial chassis.
The one pictured below is loosely along the lines of a Glyn Valley Tram loco - the boiler is a piece of copper pipe, the valves and smoke stack all turned from brass on Colins home lathe. All the rest is plasticard and brass wire.
Knobs are pin heads, and the coal is real…
Chassis is an 0-6-0 N gauge.
Pictures below:

When I called round yesterday he was in the process of making a Tal-y-llyn carriage to go with his 'Dolgoch'.
Never had my camera, but I'll get some pics on Wednesday.

The first is loosely based on a Hunslet saddle tank. The only commercial part is the chassis, though I am not too sure which particlular make/model it is. Construction is from plasticard, wire and brass and copper tubing. Funnels and domes Colin turns on his small lathe.
This first one is work in progress -

Dome yet to be fitted. I forgot to mention that the couplings are a commercial item as well as the chassis.
The second loco is a finished example of a 2-6-2 with a minitrix chassis. Handpainted/sprayed and the coach lining done with a bow pen (remember them?)

I think you have to agree they really are lovely little locos. We have taken him to task regarding the non-working of the sand-box linkages! However, knowing Colins penchant for detail, he'll be working on that…
Still haven't got out to the shed yet for pics of the tram loco on the incline!

Very belated post - I said I would post pics of that little loco hauling up a 1:30, and then promptly forgot about it. Talking to Colin today made me check up on old threads, and I realized I had taken a picture, but not posted. Herewith:

Unfortunately work came to a halt (!) on this, our permanent layout, as Cardigan and Boncath intruded, and now we are heavily into a narrow gauge (009) portable!

I'm following your NCE with interest - it's really looking good.
As an aside, looks like the TVR at Henllan is on the verge of folding up. Pity - I think it was going well when you visited.

The Mojos back again so we might see some more progress.
Sad to hear that the TVR is in trouble. We had a lovely ride when we visited in 2010.
If I had the money I'd fly over and buy 'em out. Always wanted to run my own railway… Wait… Oh… Bigger than the one in my spare bedroom.
