Was thinking of buying one but the prices are ridiculous, £32.99 from Bachmann.
2 hours work and some card and plastic.

The box I made it from was the right width and depth, I just chopped it down to get the roof height of about 55 mm. And the width is 135 mm depth 15 mm. I didn’t scale it but it looks right.

The prices of some of the buildings are ridiculous from eBay etc. saying that I’ve had some good Metcalfe buildings for under a tenner on my other layout.

I've made downloadable kit buildings and retaining walls from the likes of Scalescenes in the past, which are very good, but do require a lot of work, although you can sometimes adapt them to make some variations.
Looking around, there appears to be very little for TT 120 scale at the moment, so I'm not sure what I'll do on my shunting puzzle plank, if I ever get as far as buildings.

I quite like the Metcalfe offerings, the only problem is you end with the same buildings everyone else has on their layouts.

It's an option Terry, or I might just go for something similar to what Gray does, and find some boxes about the right size.
After all, if it looks right, it is right.

For me, the only advantage Metcalfe have over Scalescenes is that they're quick and easy to construct.
Yes, there's a lot of work involved with Scalescenes but worth every hour ! They're also not particularly cheap - the download fee is probably the minor part of the final bill - you then need to add the cost of printing, the cost of card stock, half a girder's worth of scalpel blades and the glue but my word, once done properly and carefully, they're absolute stunners.
Additionally, they're very adaptable, the only limiting factor being one's ability to kit-bash.

IMHO there's absolutely no comparison between a Metcalfe building and a well made Scalescenes building……………

Metcalfe buildings are fine if they are towards the back, Near the front, you definitely want Scalescenes. The take some time to build but the outcome is very good and detailed.
