N gauge Cl. 08 diesel

Does anyone know if there is a budget kit to power a Cl 08 Farish loco ?

The original chassis died with a dead motor, and cracked gears.

Have you tried BR lines, he stocks a lot of Farish spares, he lists armatures for Cl 08 and also various gears

Thanks for the suggestion, but BR Lines carry a centre wheel set and a replacement armature, with the worm fitted.
This means that the new worm gear has to be removed to  fit the new armature, and put back again in the correct place. :hmm

I have had total disasters trying to remove or replace worm gears.

Hi Roy,

Have you considered The Goods Yard for the repair or using something like a Mashima or Kato motor, cutting the shaft rather than trying to remove the worm, and using a flex joint to a new modern motor? I expect you have already looked at The Farish Shed.

I used to use Bachmann USA 0-6-0 chassis for this sort of thing when I was modeling in N. Never did an 08 though.
