Points sometimes burnout, but the Switchboard shows its thrown
Hello Sir,I have burnt about a dozen of Fleischmann N Scale point motors, because the Switchboard show the points are thrown, but practically one or two point motors are NOT thrown! It seems they receive continous current and they become Very Hot and become useless.
Just need to know whether there is any way for me,to be sure that the motors are thrown,so i can save on Valuable motors?
Thank you
PS: as this is my first post,i am not sure whether this is the right section.

I may be wrong but it sounds like you are using the wrong kind of switches. I think you are giving your points a continuous power supply rather a momentary supply.
I am assuming that you are using seep points.
Can you tell us what kind of motors you are using and what kind of switches.
If you are using seep points, you should be using push to make momentary switches and a capacitor discharge unit to provide the initial surge required to throw the point. If you are using slow motion points, then on / on switches ( no CDU required here ).
Some photo's of your points and the rear of your switches ( where the connections are ) would be helpful.

I am using Fleischmann n scale points with Fleischmann decoder 6850.
Maybe my points were not free, some of them are sticky,as they were simply not used for years,if you can tell me on to lubricate,i will try .
Thank you sir.

I'm not familiar with the Flieschmann points or decoders at all so I would not like to try and advise in case I am giving you the completely wrong advice.
I am sure that there will be other members who will have experience of these and who can advise you better.
Anyone care to chip in here ?
