Just like to mention that I recently aquired some old hornby double o plastic set track as well as some old farrish 00 points for use in the depot on potters lane. Both makes are to correct 00 sleeper spacings which makes me question if we had these to start with how did we end up with HO taking over??

Also, there is no such thing as correct spacing as it is different on each route depending on traffic frequency and tonnages.
Unfortunately we are stuck with OO and any change would always be a compromise that some may like but others would not.

The compromise C+L code 75 bullhead rail with 32mm sleepers
and slightly underscale sleeper spacing, plus better looking points RTR.Would be a good bench mark to supply to the mass market of 00 modeler,s.
So I would say yes.
