Anyway, what I have done is to glue a couple of rectangles of the lead into the roof of the trolley, to add weight over the unpowered wheels to improve electrical pickup a little. Then, I used a larger rectangle bent to represent a tarpaulin over the rather unconvincing fake ballast load. First impressions are good, although it does need some refinement, and I definitely need to use thinner lead for the future. The photos show the unpainted result, as it is now. Painting it once I am happy with the final shape will improve the look even more. The main thing is that it has vastly improved the traction of the powered wheels.

Brute force was just about right: the burly workmen would simply lift the trolley onto the track as a team effort..

Hi Jeff. Very good, have you got/ had relations with girls , with those names??? I have various Locos, but, the only one which is named is my 1980’s Hornby Repton schools class, another one that requires the DCC treatment .Best wishes. Kevin
ha ha, no; no relations with any of them except Agnes (my other half)!! I named the red Hornby J94 Agnes because she insisted I buy it when one of the BRMA members had it on sale at a meeting.

The rest of my industrials are receiving girls names all starting with 'A'. One other, an ex-GWR pannier tank gained the name Ashleigh, after my very good friend's daughter, as we are essentially adopted aunt and uncle to she and her brother.

They aren't finished yet, with a coat of varnish required to protect the transfers needed. The paint is patchy but that really doesn't matter once they are varnished and subsequently weathered. The photos show them at various stages to date.
Note, I only had one 'proper' set of transfers for Palvans, so made up the second one but it is still missing the actual 'PALVAN' lettering. That can always be added at a later time.

I did a little powder weathering on the two Palvans this morning. On one I used grey and dark earth coloured powders, while on the other, I used dirty black and dark rust. As you can see, the effects are quite different.

The loco is a Heljan class 07 diesel shunter, D2990. While it has a very slight tight spot at extremely slow speeds, it runs very smoothly at all other speeds. It too needs a little weathering, but I haven't figured out what will be the best effects or methods yet.

While there is still work to do and some adjustments to make with paint, I am happy with the effect on the first Driving Trailer Standard (DTS). Putting these on and trimming slightly to compensate for the odd discrepancy is time consuming, with the use of a hair dryer set on hot to help settle the vinyls over raised detail and form it around corners, so the other three coaches are going to be done over the next couple of months (because of other commitments I have in the next few weeks).
Anyway, here are photos of the work so far, with, as I said, more blending in and touching up to do. The first couple are a little blurred because they were taken rather hastily.

Hi Jeff. Yes very flashy, but where do these trains run??? BR blue is out of place in my collection? At the time all sitting in “Really Useful Boxes†. Best wishes. Kevin
They run mostly out of Waterloo to the old LSWR lines. South West Trains (SWT) is now defunct, but their liveries live on with new branding for South Western Railway, which has a new, rather dull black and silver-grey scheme that hasn't been applied to many of their trains yet.
This livery superseded the modified Network South East (NSE) livery that SWT used for a while after taking over from BR's NSE on those lines.

As I said, SWR seem to be very slow in applying their new livery. In fact, they seem to be very slow in deciding exactly how their new livery should look, as just about every application they have done so far has differed from train to train. In the meantime, the Stagecoach/SWT liveries live on with new branding for 'South Western Railway' applied to the existing colour schemes.
I have to say that I rather like the SWT liveries, although the inner suburban red is a little gaudy, while the blue outer suburban and white intercity ones are more tasteful while still being colourful. there was a picture of Waterloo station in a recent magazine, with the station area itself being all shades of grey, with the SWT train liveries livening up the scene considerably. The new SWR livery will just add to the drabness of the scene instead, especially on cold, grey Wintery days.
This is the outer suburban livery as used on the SWT class 450 units. Both of these were done using the Electra Rail Graphics vinyls as well.
