:) I've been tempted back into the small and delightful,this time in 7 mm scale and 14 mm gauge. I know 16.5 is OK, but little engines don't look right on it. An order has gone off to KB SCale for a load of bits, now all I have to do is wait. Hang on a minute though. Whilst sorting out my bitz box, I came across a Nigel Lawton MPD Chassis kit and a Bachmann 03 bodyshell. Hmmm. New wheels on longer axles, shorten the bonnet of the 03, bit of plastic card for the backend and I'll have a Hunslet type of 0.14 loco. This will be fun. I'll get some photo's up when I've finished mucking about with it.

How big a layout Wiz? A plank?
… And theme?

Hi Marty. Space I have available is 8 feet x 18" A layout I like the look of is Avalon, built in Gn 15.Small enough to build, but big enough for fun. And being 7 mm scale I can see what I'm doing! The original is a brickworks, but I don't know what theme I'll be adopting yet. Maybe someone with a bit of land who has built up a collection of various n.g. bits. Ramshackle huts made from wriggly tin with the track meandering round and through. To add a bit of interest I'll try and get the front siding down a bit below the main layout.

Looks good, hand built track and all structures scratchbuilt?


I like the idea of a collection of railway bits, not often modelled.

Been a change of plan. I've now got the track from KB and printed off the templates for the layout. When the Sundeala arrives, I'll be able to layout the "virtual" railway to see how it all fits. Meanwhile, I've got some rolling stock and a loco to build. That'll keep me out of mischief for a bit.

I assume you mean the big,black lump? It will be the loco shed/ workshop. I intend to convert a shoebox for it. Her indoors bought some new shoes t'other day, so the box was "aquired" for the job. I'm going to clad it in corrugated material, what product I don't know yet. I may splash out on Ambis. Looking down the 8 feet length of bare baseboards is a bit daunting to say the least. 

Hi Henry, don,t do any thing yet with the loco shed/ workshop as I have a building I made for an aborted O 16.5 layout that if you feel is suitable you,re welcome to, I will photograph it and post it with dimensions tonight, I also have a station building based on Hulme End on the Leek and Manifold light railway if you want it, I will photograph that un as well.

dimensions, length, 255, depth, 159 inc cannopy, height, 145 inc chimney.

the rear of the station is plain as it was never intended to be seen, there are some knocks and dings to the buildings but as they are over 12 years old its only to be expected.

Any way if they are of any use, let me know, I don,t want anything for them just the cost of postage.

I've now got a workshop/locoshed and station building thanks to the generosity of Jakesdad13, and superb they are. This is where the fun? starts. I've obtained a large amount of 5 mm wide coffee stirrers, and they've got to be cut for sleepers + the Sundeala board has got to be cut and fitted, and I've also got to make the pasta and sauce for dinner tomorrow. Any ideas as to when we can go to a 28 hour day? That might give me some spare time.

I bought one of these newfangled twin dimension machines, so one of me can do what her indoors wants me to do and one of me can do what I want to do ! Only problem is I'm now arguing with myself over whose doing what

don't look at all that length, just put blinkers on and look at 2' at a time   you'll be fine  :thumbs
