I have one fairly small room into which must squeeze the office, the bed and the model collection. There are currently two boards up on legs and close to being ready to run but they need a small mid-section to be built and fitted first. The fiddle yard will be a piece of board resting atop the bookshelf in the office space beneath the cabin bed. I am, if nothing else, making best us of the little space I have,
RMweb regulars will spot the occasional post here and there although I am active daily in the Early Risers section of the social side of the site. I'll make a determined effort to get back in here more frequently too. With little trains to show you soon as well, I hope.

I seem to recall you taking a layout from Australia to the UK that fitted into a suitcase so your present space must be absolute bl**dy luxury

About those parties with students …..
We live in Strawberry Hill which is close to St. Mary's University. Our block is home to a number of their students though is also home to several families and older single sharers. The immediate next-door neighbours, plus both their and our upstairs neighbours, are all students. As we live in very close proximity and inevitably see each other quite often so friendships have developed which lead to being included in some of their social activities and vice versa. This despite me being around three times their age. I find it encouraging that the community can be inclusive that way though remain alert to the possibility that such friendships might be seen as unhealthy by those not involved. The kettle is always on somewhere and the door is if not always open at least not a barrier to friendship and socialising.
My birthday yesterday coincided with one of their large end-of-term parties so a few drinks were enjoyed here before the younger ones headed out for the night and the older ones headed off to bed!!! Tonight they all have Spring Ball at the university. The "pre-drinks" here involved a BBQ to which we were of course invited before they all donned their best or borrowed suits / party frocks.
I'm not planning on being awake to see what state they get home in as the dawn comes up!!!
