One thing that has surprised me is that the office address for AVG is in Nicosia, Cyprus !! Not a place I'd have associated with high-tech industries. Furthermore, their help-line seems to be based in the Czech Republic !!
Can you put my worrying mind at rest and tell me I've done the right thing !!! I'd hate to think everything stored on here is now winging it's way around the night clubs of Aya Nappa or Prague !!!

I've also just installed a Maxtor 500GB external hard drive to back everything up - just in case !! It also includes a recovery system just in case evrything goes belly up. Really, I'm just a :chicken !!

1. AVG has a great reputation, and I have used free versions of it on many PCs.
2. Norton? I used it for the parish computer network a few years ago and vowed never again. It basically jammed up the systems. (We now use Bit Defender.)
3. I've had a word with that night club owner in Prague and she assures me that your secrets are safe

Two days after I did this, I received an e-mail from Zone Alarm reporting the fact that latest updates to Windows may prevent accessing the Internet/e-mails !! & there was a update to Zone Alarm to allow the User to access the Internet.
I thought " how can I access the Internet to get the update to allow me the access the internet?".
So far, using built in Firewalls & NOD32, no problems.
