So after moving the boiler house and sand house with the chimney i still needed something else to make it look more industry. Well after cutting out some balsa wood for a building i suddenly saw this kit. I forgot i had, bought it a few month ago from a car boot, 50p it was. Brilliant, just what i need, so i have started the build and hopefully i can show it as i go along, just one question, what do you think i could use for pipes, to go across the line to my fuel depot, the answer as to why i want to do this will be answered when i get to it, so any thoughts?.
The Kit,
Next the start of the construction, 2 of these have been built thus far.
Ok more as when i do some more.

are over or under the tracks,or what they are for ie- water ,steam or fuel,
but you can use drinking straws, bendy straws, the extention bits you get with spray cans
or you could even buy plastic rod from the model shop.

Yes this is the bit i messed up by gluing things i need not have done :thud, this is because i want windows here not the doors but i am sure i can fix it somehow.
Next is the thing with the sides on, 2 pics to show outside and inside,
Well i think i have had enough for today, i want to make a good job of this. Next is the office block, says it can be fixed to the building in 2 areas but i think i have it free standing?

For pipes, go to the supermarket and buy a selection of little boxes of juice, perhaps your/a neighbors kids take them to school? On each box is a little plastic straw with a really 'cool' corrugated bendy bit near one end, great for going round corners. [The orange is good with gin….] Posh pubs do a 'grown-up' version, sometimes black, that just slides over them, though they are all differing sizes. Then look at BBQ skewers and find some that fit in the ends, tightly enough to look good. If a bit 'woggly' that's where to put the means of strapping them to a gantry etc;-). Finally, don't forget the sheathing stripped off of mains wiring, the wire itself. Oh, and finally finally, cotton buds, have a plastic stalk that in hollow, but a very small bore so a bit of wire in the middle joins them fine. All FREEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!

The Metcalfes are good kits, I have done a number of them now.
I have done the industrial units. I would just like to warn you to be careful where you place the office block that attaches to the outside walls as it can make a difference as to where on the layout you can position it.
I did mine in an L shape and when I placed the office units I did it in my minds eye without taking it to the layout and trying it in place before fixing (I find my mind often plays tricks on me!). I now have a good unit that I cannot use where I intended to. So I think your idea of leaving it free standing is an excellent one to be followed through.
Also take care when fixing the roof trusses and the roof as they can be a bit fiddley.
Cheers,

As you can see i have shortened this kit due to the extra shed not fitting at this spot on my layout, so i use it somewhere else. Why is it you always end up with loads of extra bits :thud and spend age's trying to work out where they go but cant :hmm.
Ok the pics,
the finished build apart from the tarting up,
some inside pics, note the floor is only temp just seeing if it looks ok or not,
Last but not least, a few vehicles scattered around, again just to get a idea of it,
That's it folks, any comments please feel free to say, good or bad.

I found someone called Jennifer Metcalfe who is obviously a keen modeller.
A different shape to yours, Phill.
Looking good there.

I'm not a big fan of lentils but am interested in what advantage there is to putting cardboard over them? Do they taste any better?I have added a couple bits of cardboard and put them over the lentil's on the double doors to make it more prominent as advised.
