D0226 was one of two prototype diesel shunting locomotives built in 1956 by English Electric at its Vulcan Foundryin Newton-le-Willows to demonstrate its wares to British Railways. The other has not survived.
The locomotive under the tarpaulin is a British Railways Class D2/12 and carries the number D2511. It was a diesel-powered locomotive in the pre-TOPS period built by Hudswell Clarke, and was one of a class of twenty.
08266 originally carried the number D3336. A diesel-electric shunting locomotive, 996 engines of this class were produced between 1953 and 1962 at the BR's workshops at Crewe, Darlington, Derby, and Doncaster. They were the most numerous of all British locomotive classes; and over sixty have been preserved.

If you hit enter after your photo goes in and before you enter the next one, they will sit nicely, one above the other.
Do you want to edit it, or would you like me to do it?
