Just the telegraph wires to do one day and then it's finished.
Oh my goodness, March 17th, 2008 was the start date, I've learnt so much during the process and had a lot of fun too.
I really can't recommend strongly enough that someone starting out in the hobby experiment with something small like this as a taster.
Being small it's more likely to be completed and the skills test lets you know what you are in for.
… and yes John, I haven't forgotten about a video… sooner or later…

I've been re-reading the whole thread again.Have you had any thoughts about adding fiddle yards either end and turning it into an operational diorama??
You could turn it into a small exhibition layout very easily.;-);-)
(And its high time we had the video, mate!!!)
Cheers,John.B.:thumbs
P.S.congrats on another header pic……well done!!!

This module proves that you are a very accomplished modeller and you've just informed me that you started it 2 years ago.
I've got just 5 months left to do mine :shock::shock:. I've bought the wood……………………………….

John, one day, when things are not so hectic, fiddle yards and a video will be forthcoming.
Petermac, at least you've got the wood!!!
Gordon, I had a lot of fun detailing the diorama, the whole project caught my enthusiam and it was a proof of concept for the Newcastle Emlyn layout.
Once I showed Tracy the completed diorama, the whole concept of a bedroom dedicated to a model railway layout was much easier for her to come to grips with.

. . . so no DCC sound, then? It'll keep her awake.

I had a great time doing it.
Starting with something small like this diorama is a really good way of experimenting and building up the skills.
I also find that choosing a real place as inspiration is easier than trying to invent something. The world of real railways has lots of little quirky bits that we couldn't dream up in a thousand years.
Go one, start up a topic, you know you want to.

The detail you get into N gauge (a gauge I can barely even see) is amazing.
Me.. I paint with a very broad brush !! ;-)

One more photo which didn't make it on before but one which, I think, is a good overview of the halt area itself.
…and of course, the same area is being rebuilt all over again, with some improvements I hope, on my layout. The bridges are done and the mill buildings on the photographers side of the river are under construction.
