One station of the Devan & Summersett
The interesting part will be having points across the lift up joins.

That is the plan - pinned, glued, ballasted then cut.Are you going to fix them down and then cut them with a Dremel?

all of this wiring is normally hidden by a piece of 3mm MDF

the little flat square box with white & grey wires is a 12v LED unit ( 4 LEDs) that is on when layout power is working - so that I cannot leave the layout room & forgetting to switch off at night - bright as !!

the camera angle does not help with the rails but they are straight !

Anyway, point has now been cut with a dremel & 4 wheel & bogie stock - no problems

Up in the air then seated back down

all wiring to be finished when it cools down a bit = 30C in the train room. outside currently 37C.

If I tried that I'd end up with something resembling the work of a litter of kittens playing with a ball of wool.
Will raising and lowering the 'flap' eventually put any strain on the wires?

No, plenty of slack as I found it was needed after I installed my first wiring in a liftup- they parted like a guitar string - "twangggg"Will raising and lowering the 'flap' eventually put any strain on the wires?

Ahmmm, when it is lifted, the power circuit is broken & any electricity left in those raised rails, drains back in the bucket for use next time - didn't you know that Max quest:When it's open he will have to increase the Voltage as the power will be running up hill, Pete.
