One station of the Devan & Summersett

Inspirational as always Sol.... do you think that the current track plan will stay down long enough to get a hill and road bridge built?

Cheeky Sod  :exclam   ;-)

I do not blame you for that comment - I have had the same or similar from other "mates" - can't work out why though:question

Now modelling while travelling through the wine area - that could be disastrous :exclam

The platforms really look the business.I think the unusual brickpaper you've used is great…very naturalistic and different.I can't wait to see it all when the scenics are finished, should look the dog's doo-dahs!

I'd say that's an astute supposition, Ron

Ballasting under way - still damp.

and this is the end for the steps.  Not normally seen from this angle & they will hide the shortness in platform depth.

Photo also shows up more ballast/ground material needed to hide the tape gaps.

Steps, side pieces from 1.2mm styrene - one side already cut to shape using a nibbling cutter  http://www.micromark.com/NIBBLING-CUTTER,7761.html .

the steps themselves are 1mm styrene fron bread bags tags. One cut to width, the length to be measured.

Ron,
I just purchased one of those nibbler cutters, but have not used it yet. I wondered if it would be a good decision to get one. How do you like yours? Any tips on how to handle it?
My main concern was, I am left handed, but from the picture it looked like that would not be an issue.

Wayne, cutting the pattern for steps was the first time I have really used it & was pleased. I tried it left-handed & all was OK.

All bits cut with posts

Sides prepared with posts

Steps added - not perfect but …

Painted now - since the above, it was tried in situ & a small step added at the top.

When installed at the far end of the goods platform, a rail to be added in situ & weathered. As mentioned earlier in the thread, it won't be seen full on or even side on but at an angle. Took some time but I enjoyed doing it.

You have good timing on this post Sol, I have an exterior set of steps to do on my Signal Box, unfortunately for me they are right out in the front of my layout. I will most likely follow what you have done here to build mine.

My only hope of hiding them is to plant lots of tall shrubs!
