Nice Sol. :thumbs

I like the weeds between the tracks and the "rough ground"  to the left.

Are you leaving the old disused loading dock top right with the lifted track bed in place ?  Looks authentic, particularly if you "dilapidate" it a bit. :cheers

Some changes have occurred for operational purposes

before

as of now

the gradient road has gone with some additional trackwork leading to the curved track to the left

Hi Ron            Lots of inspiration for my "Bogged Down Plans" but would you please tell me the baseboard dimensions.                                                            all the best  Kevin

Kevin, my layout room is 12 x 20 ft - baseboards vary in width from 14" up to 40"

looking towards one corner when one enters the room

to the left in the other corner

turning 180 degrees looking towards entrance

now to the left looking at the doorway & the lift up on which Barnstable resides

and attached is the basic block plan of the layout

The layout is looking quite impressive and the changes around Barnstable have worked out very nicely. Great to see some open shots of the layout. :thumbs

Congrats on 'Alan's Pic Of The Week', well deserved. :cheers

Putting a new display panel for turnout indicator LEDs and signals using 3mm MDF

when fitting 5mm diameter LEDs, they protrude through quite some       distance

on the big wall panel which was 5mm MDF,

they were OK but this       time -  I needed some form of washers.

an old ball point pen no longer usable, was cut into 1.5  - 2 mm       thick washers

and when fitted into the panel…

f course close up photos show a few painting mistakes…

Those panels look brilliant. I've been pondering panels lately and that wall panel with its LEDs looks the business.

What are the three colours? I can guess red and green, but the yellow?

As for the washers - genius! What kind of saw did you use to get them like that?

Mike, just selected 3 colours for some difference between the tracks.

Cut the washers by using a razor saw.

A highly sophisticated means of glueing the LEDs in place …..

Yes I know how sophisticated you are Max ! :mutley

No doubt there are better ways of holding them in place but $ plays a  big part ( plus what I have on hand to do the job …)

Cheers Ron. Perfect attachment method! Re colours, I meant the LEDs on the large panel. I assumed red was for the un-set route and green for the set route, but wondered what the yellow was for. Looking closer, are the reds signals?

OK understood. on the big panel, LEDs within the track diagram are turnout indication- green main line, yellow branch line & red stop.

Signals are in little cutouts to the side of the track diagram.

Early Barnstable

then with an extra track across the liftup for Marabost

then the "final" change for operational purposes…

still some ballasting to do in the turnout & scenery tidied up - can't rush these things…

The town of Barnstable on the coast had to be abandoned as climate  change as flooded the town and the people relocated to Marabost - even  the new business Barnstable Electrics has closed up…
