Yep - that looks better Sol. Did you take a low-level shots like the earlier one ? It's from a low angle that we usually see tracks so that would give a better idea of how close to the real thing it looks. I'd guess, given how good the weed shot was, it's not a million miles away now :thumbs
As Iansa said, I don't think weathering ever does stop. Certainly when I look at photos of me taken only last week, I realise it doesn't !!!
Agreed Wayne - at low level, it doesn't really show Sol.
After studying it, it's the "clean" ballast that stops it looking dirty. In yards and stations, down the centre line, the dirt was really plastered on wherever an engine might stand - literally "plastered on". You couldn't see much in the way of ballast. On the running lines, the ballast was clear enough to see but it was either a grey/rust colour (presumably from the constant dripping water from steam locos), or black/brown from the oil and grease thrown off the engine, wheel bearings and axles etc. then as Max said, right up close to the rails, there would be the rust coloured bit - a run-off from the rails themselves.
Wayne's right - it needs more ………….much more…….:roll::roll::cheers
Wednesday , now, all afternoon & evening out to a club then an operate session Thursday = household duties plus an Op session here Friday - yeh I may get to more dirtying but I do want to finish some grass etc around the signal cabin.
Great Shot Ron. Seeing the whole station together like that really underlines how all the buildings group together so well.......lots of atmosphere:thumbs
