Another station on the Devan and Summersett

Some fencing - Hornby modified by removing one rail, darker brown paint on posts & smattered over the rails. Dull coating to occur next.

I've just 'got into' cutting up fencing, Ron.
I had a huge stock of different kinds I bought from a shop that closed down.
Unfortunately it's now dwindled.

Very effective on your layout.

That looks good, Sol.  Did you cut one rail off the bottom and shorten the posts?

Road/rail crossing sign

and because it is close to the baseboard edge, to protect it from arms, etc, a 1/4" perspex guard fitted.

I've come to realise that perspex, as you've illustrated, is the best answer for that purpose, Ron.
Nice, neat job there.

Looks good Sol and a neat idea with the perspex. :thumbs

I do wonder what that guard cost :roll: - here, it would be more than several "Level Crossing" signs but at least it would save having to replace them ………….:thumbs

I like the idea of the cut-down fencing - it looks as if it were specially designed for the situation and far less "overpowering" than the "out of the box" stuff.  It gives it a much lighter appearance, looking more like a fence than an anti-tank barricade.

A bit more 'greenery' is starting to appear.

to be followed by another first - a tree and some more bushes.

It has been pointed out to me that the new signs are a bit low so I will have to make some new ones with longer poles.

I'm just about to tackle a level crossing in N and realised it takes some forward planning if the gates are going to meet across a double track.
Not that they will ever be closed but they need to look right - as Ron's do.
As the approach road is already laid together with the track, I may have boxed myself into a corner.

Now I do like that shot Sol but isn't the raod sign just a tad small ?  Either that, or the buffers are a tad big ………..

Peter, my last sentence in Post #168 did say , the signs are small so I am in the process of making larger ones.
The buffers are standard Peco ( modified).

That's more of a "man-sized" sign Sol. :thumbs

I seem to remember you downloaded them.  Are they just printed off and stuck to plasticard ?

Peter, saved to my computer then with Fast Stone Image Viewer - a freebie, I alter the size to what I need & print it out & glue it to cardboard , but yes plasticard will also work.

The larger sign installed with the original for comparison.
The b….y camera shows up the pips protruding though  the buffer beam so I will have to remove the pip.

the smaller sign now scrapped!
