Scratch building ( or even heavily kit bashing) is good fun & tends to make swell with pride when an idea comes to fruition.
Nice bridge mate.

Thanks all, I'll weather it a bit when I finish that area around the track and light signal.
Just downloaded a Norfolk farm house from Scalescenes, 32 pages including the instructions!! That might be a Winter build!!

Cheers

We've all said what a great job scratch building the bridge Ron,  but I think we all missed something ?   Hinges and baseboard join ??   Where ?

Inside the bridge parapets ……….. dummy.:mutley

Ron, one question with regards to the positioning of your signal. Is it not a bit close to the bridge ? The driver would be right on it as he comes round the curve and out of the bridge. I know we're compressing scale but just wondered if it maybe could have either come back a bit or been positioned before the tunnel. ( not a criticism …… it looks great …. just a query )

sometimes things look a bit different from the photo's and you don't get the real impact unless seeing it in the flesh. Keep up the good work though.

cheers

The bridge looks good. I'll echo other replies on how good it feels when a plan and some card comes to fruition. Well done. :thumbs

Matt, see post 256 which is a photo from the early baseboard build!
Tom, signal placed (& fixed!) before bridge idea!! its a distant R/Y signal so not too much of a problem?
Bridge now weathered and drying and the area around the signal has been grassed (and drying!)

Lol its OK Tom and Ron I'm not going daft just yet ! I was just pointing out that the reason for the bridge in the first place WAS to hide the hinges and join

Hi Ron,

I know nothing about signals myself so it really doesn't mean anything to me. It's all looking good anyway and I can't wait to see your weathering and landscaping additions.

You ain't hanging around that's for sure.

Cheers for now.

I'm sure you'll manage the kit fine. Just take your time with it. The rest of what you've done to date would suggest that you'll manage it standing on your head.

I'll get back into things before long. The layout will run on DCC before the laptop is connected for RR & Co so you'll maybe have a wait for the computer control.Once the DCC is running on the lower level and everything is running smoothly, It'll be CCTV installation before installing the upper baseboards.

Once I get over this electrical stuff, things will speed up again.

Meanwhile, I have weybourne to keep me tuned.:mutley

Similar to mines, that's a Panasonic as well. Great for use in the shed with the zoom lens. They can get everywhere. It's actually SWMBO's but I've sort of claimed it.:mutley

I don't like taking the DSLR into the shed as it's liable to take a knock and it's not as flexible either.

Cheers

Toto.

Nothing wrong with that signal Ron, you can see it shining on the abutment under the bridge in the video, so it must be visible from any approaching train :thumbs

Just wish you'd slow down a bit.

You only started on the bridge Monday and now it's built, in situ and you've already done the scenery around it. Makes me feel terribly guilty

Still plenty to do Ed! I get home at 3.30pm so have a couple of hours before tea most days and after tea as well! Don't normally watch TV much before 9pm due to SWMBO's soaps!! (Although I'm watching the Ashes at 7pm nightly!) I hope I spur others on and not turn them off!!
