Station set on the North Norfolk coast.

Why thank you John!
The main reason for the speed is because I have done very little astronomy this year, it's been the worst Spring/Summer I can remember for cloud and wind!! So I spent more time on the railway than I envisaged!!

Cheers
Ron

38.5*C ! You would be sweltering in that kind of weather.  Lucky for us in Sydney at the moment, we are experiencing cooler 5*C mornings and beautiful 16-18*C days. ;-)

Cheers, Gary.

Interesting that temperature as I went into my shed yesterday and it was reading around 38C but mine is not insulated, I only have roller blinds at the windows to stop the greenhouse effect.

Got a bit of a problem here!

Just added a distant light signal and got to thinking about how to cover/hide the hinges? I have covered the nearest one with a temporary building but what to do on the other side?? Left of the photo will be an overbridge then a scenebreak to the fiddle yard. Any suggestions? What about an old coach body??

Thanks
Ron

Just a thought…. Any reason the signal box can't do a 180 , switch to the other side of the tracks and sit over the hinge? As I said, just as thought

Any small building should do the trick, if you want it to be removable stick a piece of square plastic inside each corner projecting down a bit and make 4 holes in the baseboard to match, then you can "plug" it in and unplug it when folding. I've used this method to put buildings over point motors etc.

Covering baseboard joins I usually plant a hedge, wall or paving so that it overlaps the join, or use plastic "legs" to slot in the join when erected.

I'm with Matt.

Then you'd see the signal box front on when operating.

Signal box is 'fixed' Matt? Like the idea of legs on a building to plug it in Mike!:)

Turn it in to a raised grass mound and put a water tank of some sort on top…I take it the over bridge will turn and run the other way once over the tracks ? If its running towards the signal you could make it a banking with the road running over it before running down to track height ? Or turn the wood block into a building with the water tank on top

Good idea's, but don't forget this is the bridge section across the doorway that moves up and down for entry into the shed!! :)

Precisely the position to use plug in buildings. Although I said square "legs", round ones would also do the job, it's just that square are easier to fix plus the add to the rigidity of card buildings corners which is worth considering if the building has to be handled fairly often.

In the sort of location shown I'd be inclined to make a small plug in module that covers most of the join as well as the hinge blocks, building and a wall, hedge or path, or a house with a yard or garden, or industrial building with a yard or car park.

Cheers MIKE

Hi Ron,

why not make the scenic break over the hinged section ?? This could be a lift off bridge or perhaps some remnants piers/retaining walls and wing walls of an old former bridge.

The excuse for having another bridge (the real scenic break) is that the track has been realigned or the former bridge piers have steadily been  sinking…

Cheers, Gary.

Some good ideas there and I think the lift off module is the way to go . fast and easy to lift out and drop in as and when you are going in and out the shed         Cheers.   Matt

I have bought some Peco girder bridge sides from Howes Models in Kidlington, and will start the plans tomorrow. I will bring the bridge forward and use it to cover the hinges and be a lift off structure.

And a new wagon!
