You should have packed a few Australian ones to take with you when you went back, Rick. Most of them would be able to match a cat, or even carry one off!

A little something to stop the trains hitting the wall :mutley
Peco rail-type and sleeper-type kits suitably painted.

Details include dry-brushing green paint onto the moulded weeds on the sleeper blocks and patting wet red and white paint with a cotton-wool bud to bring up the grain before dusting the lot with weathering powder.

Forgive my ignorance but what are the black dots on the left hand buffer in photo 3 ?

Thank you Peter
I think they may just be raised bolts from which the white paint has worn off.

Ah, I see.  Can you cut them off Rick ?  At close range, they rather detract from an otherwise excellent paint job.

I’ll have a look at a few more prototype pics; another option might be enwhitenment.

Those are the pins for joining the assemblies together. I have, in the past, cut those off flush myself. As the kits come, the buffer blocks have holes in which those pins come through. They do work in making the assembly more solid, especially as most glues don't seem to work well on the Peco plastic.

Welcome to my new hobby. Fencing. :mutley

There’s now over six feet of this stuff protecting the yard from homes and playing fields.

Phil - thank you

More work has brought the yard area to a significantly completed state.

There’s always more to do of course but more green details have been added, the ground weathering is down and even the yard crane has a new layer of grime and rust.

Apologies for the sideways views caused by the usual iPhone : site software incompatibility

That l,ooks excellent Rick.

The  weathering on the 16t mineral wagons looks brilliant - is it just paint or have you done some witchcraft with salt and the likes ?

Looks very well worked. One skill I need to start at Teasel is to weather the track/stock. I’ve been keeping an eye on your techniques.

Thanks Peter.  No witchcraft and no salt involved.  Just paint, some of it dry-brushed, some applied by airbrushing and some hand-brushed powders.

I know the salt technique but have yet to use it.

My solitary chocolate / cream carriage is a Hornby model bought solely for use as a weathering demonstration item. It has now been condemned (!!) and sits in the “dead” road bearing the circle-and-cross symbol for no brakes and attached to the departmental shunter.
